Even as a 4-year-old child, I was helping my father (not a plumber but a mechanical engineer and an admitted "know-it-all") thread pipe. This exposure, along with the fact that my father managed to flood the family residence one day before a major holiday even after my mother insisted on using a professional, resulted indirectly in me pursuing a career in this highly specialized field.
